Get excitED! Your student has been invited to participate in an Edina Public Schools summer Targeted Services program. Following MN Department of Education best practices, this invitation-only program is designed to help students discover their possibilities and thrive using a blend of social emotional learning, targeted instruction in reading and math, and hands-on, project-based learning. Together, we'll create a welcoming learning community that will help students develop foundations for lasting academic and personal success. 

2026 Program Dates, Times and Location

Monday-Thursday, July 13-July 30   
9:00am-3:00pm
Concord Elementary School

Students who register must attend all day, all 12 days of the program.

Students entering grades 1-6 in fall 2026
(currently in grades K-5)

FREE for invited students. 

Program Highlights
Students enrolled in excitED! will:

• identify their strengths, build social emotional skills, and make connections between classroom and community
• build literacy and math skills with their home room teacher
• participate in project-based learning featuring inquiry, authenticity and community partnerships
• participate in school-wide special events

Frequently Asked Questions

What is excitED?
excitED! is the summer Edina Public Schools Targeted Services program. Targeted Services is a state-funded, invitation-only program that offers additional learning opportunities to identified students who need additional time to build academic skills. Targeted Services are designed to meet the needs of the whole child and prioritize engaging students with supportive adults, the school and the wider community. 

My student has been invited to attend. Are they required to attend?  
Participation in Targeted Services programs like excitED! is optional. The registration deadline is March 27, 2026. Enrollments will not be accepted after that date. 

Can my child attend only morning or afternoon? Can my student attend just one or two weeks? 
excitED! has been intentionally designed as a well-rounded, integrated program. It is a choice-based program with limited space. Absenteeism is disruptive to the class and program, and students cannot make academic gains with sporadic attendance. To help us build community and maximize learning, all students and families who register for a spot in this program must commit to attendance all day, every day the program is in session.

My students attend an immersion or dual-language program. What language will be used in excitED?
Instruction for most students will be conducted in English. NEW THIS YEAR, morning curriculum for Normandale students entering grades 1-2 will be conducted in French. Morning curriculum for Countryside Spanish Dual-Language students entering grades 1-2 will be provided in Spanish. 

Is lunch provided? What about breakfast?
We ask that students bring a lunch from home each day. Let us know on the registration form if you need help providing lunch for your student each day. Breakfast is not offered.

Can transportation be provided?
Bussing can be arranged when transportation is a barrier to participation. Students who qualify for transportation during the school year are allowed one consistent pickup location and one  consistent dropoff location for the 12 days of excitED!. Let us know on the registration form if your student will need district transportation. 

My student attends Kids Club in summer. Are the programs coordinated?
Yes! A mini Kids Club site will be available at Concord Elementary exclusively for students enrolled in excitED! for a fee (see below). If your student already has a summer Kids Club contract, your site for the 12 days of excitED! (M-TH) will be Concord. No transportation to/from Kids Club sites is available.
