Middle school students face unique challenges as they transition from elementary to high school. Community Ed's middle school sports keep them engaged before and after school and gives them a safe and fun space to stay active and meet new friends.

Middle School Sports

Cheer Gr 6-9

Participants practice in the evenings and learn cheerleading basics that include side line cheers, jumps, stunting and pyramids in a safe environment. The team also works on a routine to compete at competitions in the winter. This team is a part of the Edina High School cheerleading program and is a tryout based program.

Season: Fall, Winter

Tryouts: Typically held in the spring of previous school year.

Track & Field

Student Registration Window for Middle School Track & Field (online): Opened on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 - Closes on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Register at edinaschools.arux.app

Join us for fun and fitness this spring. Beginner and experienced track athletes are welcome! All participants will have the opportunity to compete in track and field events that encompass sprint and long distances running races, individual and relay options, and jumping and throwing events.

Details

Grades 6-8
Season dates: Monday, April 6, 2026 through Friday, May 22, 2026 (no practice Friday, April 10, 2026)
Cost: $230, includes a team uniform singlet
Practices are held before school Monday-Friday. Students will stay at their home school for practices.
- Valley View: Edina High School/Valley View Middle School, 7:30-9:00am
- South View Middle School: Kuhlman Stadium/South View Middle School, 7:45-9:00am
The season includes four meets at Kuhlman Stadium, with the final meet being a District Championship meet.
- 2026 Meet Dates: April 23, May 5, May 14, and May 19 (May 26 is held as a weather back up for the May 19 District Championship meet only)
